✦ Stuff I Found on Amazon

Things I bought because my brain said so

I am not a lifestyle blogger. I am a person with ADHD and a Prime membership and occasionally these two things combine to produce something genuinely useful. Here is what survived the purge.

Some of these links are affiliate links. If you buy something, I get a small commission. This does not change what I recommend — I only list things I actually own and use.

Brain management

Things that help when your brain is not cooperating.

ADHD essential

price: $39

rating: 5/5

Time Timer MOD

I have ADHD and time blindness is my nemesis. This is a visual timer — you can see the time disappearing as a red disc. I use it for everything: work blocks, cooking, knowing when to stop reading about sourdough. It does not beep aggressively. It is the only timer I have ever not wanted to throw across the room.

Analog brain

Leuchtturm1917 Bullet Journal

I have tried every productivity system. I keep coming back to paper. The Leuchtturm has numbered pages, a table of contents, and a pocket in the back. The dot grid is perfect for someone who needs structure but also needs to draw a very detailed diagram of how bread fermentation works at 2am.

Sensory regulation

Noise-cancelling earplugs (Loop Quiet)

Not headphones. Earplugs. Reusable, comfortable, come in colors. I wear these in coffee shops, on planes, and sometimes in my own house when the refrigerator is being too loud. They reduce noise without eliminating it entirely, which means I can still hear if someone is talking to me. I just choose not to.

Chronic illness toolkit

Things that make the body stuff more manageable.

Hydration compliance

price: $35

rating: 5/5

Owala FreeSip water bottle

I know. A water bottle. But when you are on medications that require hydration and you also forget to drink water because your brain is busy, the vessel matters. This one has a spout you can sip from without unscrewing anything. I drink more water. My nephrologist is pleased. That is the whole review.

Pill organizer with AM/PM compartments

I take a lot of pills. I used to take them twice because I could not remember if I had taken them. Now I use this. It is not glamorous. It is extremely functional. The AM/PM split is the key feature — I cannot tell you how many times I have opened the wrong compartment and been briefly confused about what day it is.

Comfort objects

Things that are just nice to have when you are tired.

Nervous system

price: $45

rating: 4/5

Weighted lap pad

Smaller than a weighted blanket, which means I can use it at my desk without overheating. I have narcolepsy and sometimes I need to feel anchored to my chair to stay awake. This helps. It also helps on bad pain days. It is a small heavy thing that sits on your lap and asks nothing of you.

ADHD tax reduction

price: $150

rating: 4/5

Ember Mug (14oz)

Expensive. Worth it. I have ADHD and I make tea and then forget about it and then it is cold and I am sad. This mug keeps your drink at whatever temperature you set, for up to 80 minutes. I set it to 135°F. I have not had a cold cup of tea in two years. This is a quality of life improvement I did not know I needed.
